Hosted at the prestigious BAFTA headquarters on 7th November 2005, the Good Communication Awards aim to promote and encourage the public sector’s efforts towards effective communication with its citizens and its workforce.

Presented by Phil Woolas MP, Minister for Local Government, the four award categories (e-government, telecommunications, print and public relations) will each present awards to the individuals and organisations that have demonstrated effectiveness and innovation.

The e-Government Category aims to reward those organisations that have built stronger relationships with citizens through internet and email technologies, recognising excellence in e-services implementation. North York Moors National Park has been entered into Accessibility Award within this category, recognising local and central government websites that have made the most progress in accessibility.

Speaking from the offices in Cardiff, Nigel Roberts, Imaginet’s Managing Director commented:

"The website was a significant undertaking for the National Park, with a broad remit to meet the needs of all stakeholders, ranging from tourists to schoolchildren.

It has recently received a full overhaul to improve its accessibility, using the latest technological advances to ensure that the widest possible range of users can gain access to the content. So we are delighted that the work has already been recognised in this way."

The Awards will also feature a panel debate entitled: Developing Good Communications, hosted by journalist and presenter John Humphrys. Taking place prior to the awards ceremony, the debate promises to provide food for thought for those involved in conveying their organisation’s message successfully.
