An exciting project promoting a range of tourist and local suppliers via touchscreen kiosks placed at visitor 'honey spots' throughout the National Park.
Background
North York Moors National Park have an extensive website providing a range of services and information to a broad audience base. To improve visitor services further, they required a number of touchscreen kiosks to be placed across the Park offering tourist and local supplier information.
Solution
Imaginet sourced a range of touchscreen kiosks including a through wall kiosk for one location. Two interfaces were created, one for tourist information and a second to showcase local craft suppliers in the area to encourage enterprise. Key features include:
- All content for the touchscreen interface was drawn from the main North York Moors website, so that no additional resources are required to manage them
- Content included attractions, accommodation, activities and events on the tourism based kiosks and information on suppliers on the Cultural Showcase kiosks
- An attractive design was created that complements the website and the colours found around the area
- Content is 'localised' to each location, so that the local accommodation, attractions and events are always shown when someone begins to use the kiosk for instance, improving the user experience
